Frequently Asked Questions
Twilight switch set FRL103
General
No, with most remote electronic dimmers, the light mode is not held when the mains power is removed from the plug. When subsequently turned on, the lamp will not turn on without user intervention.
Yes, radio signals pass through windows, walls and floors. However, they are attenuated which reduces the distance between the remote control and the plug switch. How great the final distance is depends on the construction of the house. This can only be determined experimentally. With concrete walls and floors, the penetrability of radio signals is low. At smaller distances, the remote control works through windows and walls. The maximum bridgeable distance is about 25 meters in free (outdoor) space.
Jawel. A battery CR2032 is included in the remote control. Also 2xAAA alkaline for the pyramid light sensor.
The pyramid light sensor is sensitive to daylight. Daily, when it begins to dusk, it sends a radio signal to the plug-in switches in the living room(s). Due to this radio signal, the connected twilight lamps are automatically switched on successively and remain on provided an off-time is set.

If no off time is set, the lights will turn off the next day at dawn.
At the off-time at the end of evening or 's morning, the pyramid again transmits a signal causing successive lights to go out.
With the slide switch, at the bottom the pyramid, in the upper position, radio signals are transmitted during the night causing each lamp, in a random order, to light up once briefly.
If you do not want to use the automatic light function, it can be turned off for a longer time using the slide switch on the lower position.
Also, the lights can be controlled any time of the day in usual way via remote control. This does not affectt the automatic on/off time not.
With one set, more than the three plug-in switches supplied can be used (in principle, unlimited). The remote control has three buttons so that if more plug switches are used, they must be assigned to the same button.
Multiple twilight switch sets can be used.
Yes, that's no problem at all.
The battery in the pyramid goes approximately 2 years with automatic use. The lifetime of the batteries depends on the frequency of use but generally more than 5 years.
Only when the dimmer is connected between the plug switch and lamp is this correct. In the other order when the plug switch is connected between the dimmer and lamp, the plug switch may fail. A cord dimmer with its own remote control or smartphone app will not work.
The plug switch receives the radio signal from the remote control and then switches the lamp on or off. Use the push button on the side to check whether the indication is-LED in the switch lights up and, when connected, the twilight lamp.
You may use the plug switch as often as you liket in and out of the socket as often as you like. Defore it does not get confused or lose information.
Unfortunately, do not use a plug switch in this situation! The plug switch may fail due to the centrally installed dimmer.
Installation
First of all is the maximum bridgeable distance between pyramid and plug switch(s) in free (outdoor) space approximately 25 meters. The pyramid communicates with the plug switches via radio signals and these basically pass through windows, walls and floors. However, they are attenuated which reduces the transmission distance between the pyramid and the plug switch. How great the final distance is depends on the building type of the house. By the way, this also applies to the communication of the included remote control with the plug switch.
When used in a junction box lying on the floor, sensitivity is significantly reducedespecially with concrete floors. Avoid putting two plug-in switches next to each other in one distribution or wall outlet. The presence of a central heatingradiator or pipe at less than 0.3 meters from the plug switch adversely affects the signal.
In short: the distance and mutual positions determine the quality of the radio signal, i.e. whether the radio signal arrives occasionally or not.Furthermore, it is trial-and-error and situation dependent, as there may be environmental factors (radiation) beyond our control that have a negative effect on the radio signal.
Tips:
- Placing the pyramid higher on the windowsill or near the window may improve the radio signal to the plug switches.
- Place the pyramid less directly in daylight, because the light sensor should turn on the lights indoors earlier.
Important: The new plug switches (red led) are not yet paired with the pyramid light sensor and remote control by default!
Coupling pyramid to a plug switch
- Put the pyramid down on the table or windowsill;
- Hold the push button of the plug switch5 secondsuntil the red LED inside slowly starts flashing and release (pairing mode);
- Briefly press the pyramid at the bottom left. Dhe plug switch now turns on and is paired;
- Repeat the procedure for the other plug switches.
Pairing remote control with a plug-in switch
- Hold down the plug switch push button for 5 seconds until the red LED insideslowlystarts blinking and release;
- Briefly press the desired button 1, 2 or 3 on the remote control.. Dhe plug switch now turns on and is paired (Key 4 is for all off);
- Repeat the procedure for the other plug switches.
Caution! With repeated pairing attempts (10x), the memory of a plug switch may become full and must be cleared by pressing the button for more than 10 sec until theredLED insidefastflashes. Reconnect the remote control and pyramid to the plug switch.
Setting off time end of evening
- Turn the slide switch under the pyramid op 'offat the time the lights are to be offgo off;
- Put the pyramid down on the table or windowsill;
- Press the pyramid until theredLED behind the window lights up and the lights go out as a result;
- Set the slide switch under the pyramid to evening- or evening-/night position. The lights will turn off at this time the following evening.
The operation of the plugs is the same, only the pairing is slightly different. With the blueLED you have to hold down the pushbutton on the plug, with the red LED release it when it starts flashing.
Pairing blue led
Coupling pyramid to a plug switch
- Put the pyramid down on the table or windowsill;
- Press the button on the plug. Na 5 seconden theblueLED will flash. Press and hold;
- Press the bottom left corner of the pyramid. Als the lamp turns on, it is connected. Repeat with the other two plugs;
- If the lamp does not come on, repeat the steps.

- Press the button on the plug. Na 5 seconden theblueLED will flash. Press and hold;
- Briefly press the desired button 1, 2 or 3 on the remote control. If the lamp lights up, it is paired. Repeat with then the other two plugs.
- If the lamp does not come on, repeat the steps.
If all three lamps are paired, you can you check by pressing the buttons on the remote control or on top of the pyramid again.. Als all the lights on, they are paired.
Important: The new plug-in switches (redLED) are not yet paired with the pyramid light sensor and remote control by default!
You kunt the twilight switch set test it for proper operation and then position it in the best positions.
Step one
- First, check the batteries in the pyramid and the remote control.
- Plug the plug switches into a plug bar or nearby outlet before testing.
- Wis voor a clean slate one by one the plug switch memory by holding down the push button on the side of the plug for more than 10 seconds until theredLED inside changes from flashing tofastflashing.
- Then re-pair the separate remote and pyramid to the plug switches by holding down the plug switch push button for 5 seconds each time for pairing mode until theredLED binsideslowlyflashes and release;
=> Remote control: Press briefly on the desired key 1, 2 or 3 of the remote control, the respective plug switch now turns on and is paired (Key 4 is for all off);
=> Pyramid: Press briefly on the pyramid at the bottom left.. Dhe relevant connector switch now turns on and is paired.
After couplingun test whether pairing was successful by pressing the remote control and pyramid.
If not, repeat the pairing procedure.
If not, read other possible causes in the manual. - As a last kun you test the light sensor by covering it and waiting patiently for the sensor to do its job after a few minutes and vice versa after removing the cover when lamps are on. Note that hhe slider at the bottom of pyramid is not set to OFF.t.
Step two
- Then place the pyramid on the windowsill where it should catch the daylight.
- Insert the plug switches into the outlets at the desired locations.
- Press the buttons on the remote and check that the red light on the remote blinks. Also check if the lights are on (went on).
If not, then distance is too great or there are other environmental factors. - Now also test the light sensor pyramid again by covering it in place.
- If working well at the time, still set the "end of evening" option and the option to 's night turn on the lights one by one for a few minutes to fool the burglars' guild (see manual)..
Use
You haven't set the "end of evening" time yet, and then the pyramid with light sensor won't turn off the lights until it gets light again.
Would you like that 's night the lights do not randomly turn on again for several minutes, turn the slide switch at the bottom of the pyramid to the middle position.
This is an option on the pyramid to fool the burglars' guild after "end of evening" at night by randomly turning one light on and off for a few minutes. With the slider at the bottom the pyramid kun turn this on or off.
- Would you like that 's night the lights do not randomly turn on again for several minutes, set the slide switch to the middle position.
- Would you like that 's night the lights do randomly turn on again for several minutes, put the slide switch in the upper position.
Probably the battery is almost exhausted. Replace it with a fresh battery.
See the test 'How to test the FRL103 twilight switch set for proper operation?' under"Install" section.
The pyramid does not take into account summer or winter time, but acts on the set'end of evening' moment, which you can reset at will. Also, the'end of evening' moment fluctuates a bit in conjunction with the phased switching off of the linked lights.

When the Freelux pyramid is in the scattered light of a twilight lamp, it will turn off the lamp(s) that were turned on just before. This is because the pyramid with light endor thinks that it is only dark for a short time. Prevent the pyramid from being in the beam of a twilight lamp.
This also applies to other non-automatic (twilight) lamp(s) that you turn on by hand. These can also provide too much light, causing the pyramid to turn off the automatically switched twilight lamps. To prevent this, put the pyramid in an even more dark place, where there is sufficient daylight during the day.
When you want the lights to come on earlier, kun put the remote control a little further away from the daylight. In this new spot, it will be dark a little earlier, so the lights will come on earlier. Be careful not to place the pyramid in the beam of a floor lamp.
If you want the lights to turn on automatically at dark, the slide switch at the bottom the pyramid must not be set to "off.Also avoid having the pyramid in the light beam of another lamp because then the built-in light sensor will react to this and not turn on the lights.
Information for older models!
You can change the transmit and receive frequency by changing the position of the mini-switch on the back of the remote control and the plug-in switches. With the WSC 301, both the remote control and the plug switch come standard with the transmit and receive code 0000. Changing the code can be done through the miniature switches under the covers as explained in the question below.
Caution!Theselected position of the mini switches must be the same for both the three plug-in switches and the remote control.

When you use the twilight switch set only hebt bought, it still has to learn to set the correct time. This takes at least half a week. The length of time gets shorter every day.
To make the remote control work automatically, briefly press the 'Auto' button. To confirm, the LED flashes once.
You can turn off the automatic twilight timer for a longer period of time, such as longer than a day, by pressing the 'Auto' button for at least 2 seconds. The LED at the top will then flash twice in confirmation. To go back to automatic, briefly press the 'Auto' key again.
Permanently place the remote control near the window in daylight!
Avoid putting the remote control in the beam of a lamp.
The incidence of daylight on the remote control should not be obstructed by curtains, net curtains, blinds, shutters and awnings.
(Take about 1 to 2 meters distance between the remote control and plug switch)
- Is the LED on the plug switch on?
No. Press the plug switch firmly into the socket and/or check for mains power. - Does the LED on the remote control blink when button 1 is pressed?

To determine if the reception condition at a certain location in the home is not optimal, the distance is too great or the plug switch is not working properly, you can swap the respective plug switch with another plug switch.
If the other plug switch also does not respond to the remote control, the distance between them is too great. If the other plug switch does respond to the remote control, then the first plug switch is less sensitive to the remote control's radio signal or is defective.
See also 'How do I test the Freelux twilight switch for proper operation?'
You kunt the Freelux for proper operation. The first step focuses on the maximum feasible distance between the remote control and the plug-in switches. In step 2, you check the automatic light function. Before starting step 2 in step 1 first determine whether each plug switch responds. If not, the distance will have to be decreased until each lamp can be turned on or off can be turned on or off.
Step 1
- Insert the plug switches into the outlets at the desired locations.
- Place the remote control where it should capture daylight.
- Press button 1, 2 or 3 on the remote and check that the red light on the remote blinks.
- Check if the lights are on (went on).
If yes, turn off the lights with the remote control and continue with step 2.
If no, is the code on the remote control the same as that on the plug switches ?
If no, check that the switches on the lamp or in the cord are set to 'on'. Set these to 'on' and repeat from point 3 if necessary.
If no, the distance between the plug switch and remote control is probably too great and one of the two will have to be moved. Repeat step 1
All three plug-in switches now respond to the remotesoperation and continue with step 2. If this is not the case, please read then read in the manual to other possible causes before you with step 2 continue.
Step 2
- Leave the remote control in the same place in bright daylight and wait about five minutes.
- Briefly press the 'auto' key.
- Turn the remote control face down and cover it so that no light falls on it.
- Wait at least five minutes until consecutively (within two minutes) all lights are turned on.
If so, turn the remote control back over and make sure the remote control is facing outward. Ready to use.
If no, did you press the A button? Repeat step 2.
If no, check step 1.
Contact the supplier if, on repeated occasions, none of the lamps respond automatically.
Someone nearby may be using a remote control on the same frequency. You should choose a different transmit and receive code: See the question"Can I change the transmit and receive code?"
You may be using other wireless devices in the home, such as wireless headphones or broadband television with wireless speakers. Unplug these devices and try again to see if the distance is now normal.
See the test "How do I test the Freelux twilight switch for proper operation?" in the Install section
When you use the twilight switch set recently purchased, it still has to learn to set the correct time. This takes at least half a week. Each day the time length increases. If the time is still the same after four nights, put the remote control in an even darker place where there is sufficient daylight during the day.
Two times of day are important for the twilight switch, namely in the morning at dawn and at dusk in the evening.
By manually pressing buttons 1, 2 or 3, the remote control can temporarily go out of automatic mode during the evening and night until it gets light again in the morning. At that time, the lights, if they are still on, turn off. The automatic mode is then reactivated. The activation also applies at dusk so that the lights are always on. Please note that the automatic function is activated before that by briefly pressing the "auto" button.
Pressing the "auto" key can be done at any time of the day; it is effective only after one of the two transitions from light to dark and vice versa has occurred.
Situation 1: Suppose you press key 1, 2 or 3 during the day. When it gets dark, the lights turn on automatically.
Situation 2: Suppose the lights have automatically come on and you press key 1, 2 or 3 afterwards, the lights will not automatically go off on this night. The remote control "knows" that you are home and expects you to turn off the lights yourself at the desired time.
If you do want the lights to go out automatically, press the "auto" button briefly before the lights would have gone out automatically. Determine this time based on your estimate of when the lights went out the previous nights. When this time has passed, the lights will go out again at dawn.
If you want to make sure they turn off, manually turn off the lights via keys 1, 2 and 3.
When the Freelux remote control is in the stray light of a twilight lamp, it will turn off the lamp(s) just switched on before. This is because the remote control thinks it is only dark for a short time.
This also applies to other non-automatic (twilight) lamp(s) that you turn on by hand. These can also provide too much light, causing the remote control to turn off the automatically switched twilight lamps again. To prevent this, put the remote control in an even more dark place, where there is sufficient daylight during the day.
The plug switch is most sensitive (= greatest distance) to the remote control radio signal when plugged vertically into a wall outlet. When used in a junction box lying on the floor, the sensitivity is considerably reducedespecially with concrete floors. Avoid having two plug-in switches next to each other in one distribution- or wall socket. The presence of a central heatingradiator or pipe at less than 0.3 meters from the plug switch adversely affects the signal.
You manually pressed the remote control during the evening, so the automatic program for this evening and night was interrupted.
( WSC310/01 only) Check that the silver switch on the plug switches is in the upper position.
Random switching of the lights at night is part of the automatic program. You can disable the automatic function by pressing the 'auto' button on the remote control for a few seconds (the LED on the remote control will light twice as confirmation). To return to the 'auto' program you must briefly press the 'auto' button. For confirmation, the LED on the remote control will flash once.
You can also turn off the automatic function in the evening before night until morning by manually turning off the lights. When it gets light, the twilight switch resumes the automatic function.
Is the 'auto' button pressed briefly?
No? Press the "auto" button again briefly. If it is already dark, the next day at dusk the lights will be turned on. For this evening, turn on the lights manually via the remote control. If you then briefly press the "auto" button, the lights do turn off automatically.
Is the remote control placed close enough to the window so that there is sufficient daylight?
No. Move the remote control to the window, briefly press the 'auto' button. Briefly press the 'auto' button again. If it is already dark, the next day at dusk the lights will be turned on. For this evening, turn on the lights manually via the remote control. If you then briefly press the "auto" button, the lights do turn off automatically.
